I have captcha and other preventative measures turned on, but I still get several spam posts a month. Usually a single user will post 4 or 5 (but never more than 5) posts. Not sure if that's significant or not. These posts are usually Nike or Pandora charm related, which has absolutely nothing to do with my blog or my user base (which is retired males interested in hobby metalworking - not exactly Nike or Pandora's target market).
Anyway, my current workflow for dealing with spammers is to have two tabs open. One pointing to Forum > Users, and the other tab pointing to my forum home page displaying unread posts.
When I see an unread post that is spam, I get the option to View/Expand, where I see options to "mark as read and reply", "mark as read and close", "quick reply", and "delete". I'd love to see a button to "Mark as Spam" and delete all posts by that user.
If I actually click on the title of the post I'm taken to the forum where I can hover over the member profile and click on the Screwdriver/Wrench icon to "Open the Forum Toolset". This gives me the option to Ban the user, but there's still no "Ban and Delete all posts" option.
Am I missing a super simple way to clean up spam posts where I can ban the user (ideally also banning the user's IP) and delete all their posts with a single button click?
Currently I view the spam post, copy the username, and switch back to the Forum > Users tab and search for the user. Once found I can delete the user and choose the "Delete All Posts" radio option. I used to first copy the user's IP and add it to a banned IP list, but that never seemed to do any good, so I've stopped going through the trouble of doing that.
Hi:
The closest thing to what you're looking for might be the Simple:Press Admin Bar plugin when its integrated with the Akismet plugin. Then you have the option to delete the user and all their posts if a post is flagged as spam by Akismet.
