Is there a way to embed images or even a YouTube embed?

I am not particularly fond of the magnifying glass enlarge feature and wanted to know if there was a plugin that you have developed which will allow me to paste images directly into a post?
I know there is file uploader and I have that installed, but again - it is a linked option and not quite what I am looking for.
Ideally, I would like to make instructional posts that flow similar to a blog
