Thank you for the help so far, I’m slowly working through the documentation and issues.
I have not been able to resolve this one – when new members register, there is no option to select / create a password.
They can add a user name and must answer the anti-spam questions etc
They get the greeting email with a link to rest their password, but they don’t get the option to create one on registration.
Can anyone advise what I have set up incorrectly?
Thank you

You didn’t set up anything incorrectly. After they submit the WordPress registration form, The user will get an email that allows them to set their password. That is the default workflow for WordPress.
Thanks.

Building out your membership site can be a lot of work. Easy Membership Sites has pre-configured all the Simple:Press plugins and tools you need to build a complete membership site in a fraction of the usual time. Check them out: Easy Membership Sites

If you don’t like that workflow you can always use another plugin to provide a different registration page for your users that would include setting the password plus collecting a lot more information. There are many plugins that do that – our own SPMM is one such plugin (check out the demo site registration page here: https://spdemo01.simple-press……/register/). Others such as Registration magic, Ultimate Member and form plugins such as Formidable forms, Gravity Forms etc are all great options as well.
