This is mainly for the backend section to make it easier for admins to organize and manage them a lot easier and faster.
Clone other forums and groups(with permissions)- This will make it a lot faster to build forums if you have a lot rather than one by one.
Collapse groups and forums- if you got a lot of forums and subforums it would nice to be able to collapse them in the backend.
Imagesets-Create imagesets that way you can use one image set for all your forums and change specific ones out that you need to. Makes it a lot easier than setting each forum and group one by one.
Not sure if any of these are actually implemented or not but couldnt find anyways to do them.

Before responding in detail perhaps I am just tired out but can you explain what you mean by 'imageset'?

Lets say for your read,unread,subforums,locked topics,and sticky topics etc you add these "sets" to your themes folder and simple press looks for them and automatically and uses these images that way if you have A LOT of forums you dont have to individually keep adding images to your forums(just keep the way you got it now if you need to override certain images)
This is pretty standard for about every forum software out today you can reference phpbb if you need to since its free that way you can better research what i mean.

and it works that way now... each theme comes with a standard set... you can either replace them (as you reference) or you can use the custom icon api... most non advanced users prefer the custom icon api... but simply update your theme with the icons you want... and better yet, if using child theme, just put them there since its checked first...

hmm ive tried that. do they have to be the exact name as what the standard icons are or can i define which ones i want to use?

yes, named identically... otherwise we would have no clue which file to use for which icon...

I sort of half and half see the point in the forum clone. However, if you clone you would still need to change the name, slug and optionally description - and the custom icons if you were changing them. And you would still need to potentially nominate if a main/sub and parent group. I am not so sure that this would not take longer to achieve than the way it is now.
The main time - I find - creating a new forum is setting the permissions. But of you have set these up for the parent group then any new forum will inherit them with possibly only minor changes to make. I would need convincing that coning would be faster. But please persuade me of the case...!
I can see the sense in the collapse/expand request as with a long lost it can become a little unwieldy. I will open a request for that.

lets say you have a group with 4 forums and a few sub forums, if you can clone that group you can easily go back change the name and erase the slug and it will auto create one and if you upload your own images and override default ones i think it would be a lot faster then creating each group and forum one by one.
