Urgent need Achievement Plugin Support

Hello there,

I´m here my fist time. I signed up to "try" simle press. And I am so impressed. I installed it on a Testsite and now would rather bring this as substitution for bbpress to my live-community.

But therefor I´ll need two "events" for the Achievement Plugin. For bbpress the two events are implemented, but for I´m not able to code it by myself I´d need help on this, or someone already made ist for own purpose.

I´d need the actions "reply to topic" and "create topic". Perhaps someone can help, perhaps as a comission...?

Best Regards

Apokh

not familiar with this achievements plugin... is it for bbpress of wp?  did you reference it another post too??  do you have a link to something about it?

we currently have a cubepoints supported plugin and will shortly be introducing a mycred plugin for support for that wp plugin...

Hello @Mr Papa

heres a link to the Plugin Website.

http://achievementsapp.com/

I know about the SP integration of Cubepoints and MyCred, I tried them when I thougt first about my community,  but I dont want to just give points. Achievements enables my members to "earn Achievements" for set up events on my website. Let´s say "Post 10 Articles" "Reply to a Forum Topic X Times" "Open X Forum Topics" for these Events (for example) I created Medals which are given then to the auser automatically when the criteria (10 Forum replies e.g.) are reached. When they get an Achievement a PopUp informs them about it and it is postet in the Activity Stream also. Theres aLeaderboard where you can see who accomplished the most of the Achievements and you can see ones achievements on his Profile Page.

What else should I say…it works, ppl are really active and try to get these Medals.

Thneres a Documentation on Paul Gibbs (the Author) site, how to add achevement support for other Plugins (http://achievementsapp.com/dev…..r-plugins/) and a template (https://gist.github.com/paulgi.....59ba111ca5) too. But as I´m not a php coder it is kind of hard to me to rewrite the template, so that it will do the actions already implemented for bbpress also for SP.

Puh..okay..thats it so far ;)

Best Regards

I downloaded and installed the Achievements plugin to take a look at it, see how it works and what it does. So far I have to say, I am remarkably underwhelmed by it and also somewhat confused.

I set up a new event to award points for a new blog post. No repeats needed - just 1. made a blog post and hey - I was awarded the points. Made a second blog post... nothing. It didn't award any more points for a new post until the next day. So 24 hours before I can earn any more?

In fact anything I tried only seemed to work the first time. After that nothing. As there are no option settings to suggest I can change this I am forced to assume that it just doesn't work and as such I can not really justofy spending any more time on it.

If it DID work then it does seem that adding forum events would be a fairly easy exercise. At the same time I have to admit I prefer the simplicity and ease of setup and use of MyCred which covers much of the same ground but appears to be better written, more solid and a more helpful author.

Hehe, no thats not what Achievements is made for. It´s not like cubepoints or so. You gain an achievement only once.

Lets say you want to reward your users for new Articles. There for you make achievements (like in a game)

- 10 Articles = bronze (and 10 Points)

- 50 Articles = Silver (and 50 points)

- 100 Articles = gold (and 100 points)

It would not make sense to reward EVERY 10 articles (with the same award). When I used this first I had the same wrong understanding.
I made up Achievements for e.g. forum replies, opened forum topics, articles, "Favorites" (buddypress stream) and so on...always bronze->silver->gold->platinum.

The plugin is pretty cool, because at cubepoints and mycred you can only give points. But you cannot say "Give a reward at 100/500/1000 (or so) cubepoints" with Achievements you can do this.

I hope that makes the function of the plkugin clearer. For I´m not native speaker in english, maybe it reads a bit "clunky" ;)
