I've been trying to change the language of my pluggin using the mo/po file (from the localization page directives).
But then, inside the Forum pluggin on Wordpress (integration-language translation) when trying to install the language translation files, I get an error message 'Install failed - or there is no available translation"

Do you have any idea why the download is not working and therefore why I can't switch my simple press pluggin to french?

If the automatic import of localisation files fails then it is almost certainly an issue with server permissions and us being unable to write to your server via code.
And when that is the ase you do need to fall back to manual install as described in the codex page,
