Support Forum
Since I had a chance to work with the Alpha version it made things easier for me to put together a custom theme for the http://vulkanocommunity.com/forum/ website.
If you get a chance you should check it out. I am not quite done with everything and have a few images that I want to correct or change but you will see some things are different than what you see here.
For example:
I removed all the user stats from the footer.
I changed some of the default icon images like RSS, Arrows and add topic.
I have rounded some avatar images.
I have also created some functions that will display advertising where I want it.
The color scheme may not be a popular one but it is a good example of how you can create your own theme and overlay to match a client's request.
Hopefully soon Simple-Press will have a user created download page for themes and overlays. When that happens I will put it up for anyone who wants to take a look.
Something I forgot to mention.
After the last post in a topic the default is a button for 'New Topic' and 'New Post' I have replaced the 'New Topic' with the
Quote' button. Then changed the 'New Post' button to say 'Reply'
A couple of reasons for this.
1 - The new topic button confuses people because if they want to reply to the post they are not sure which button does which. (Ya, there is a vtip but still they seem confused)
2 - Instead of 'New Topic' the text 'Reply' makes more sense to the user.
3 - Adding the quote button to the bottom allows someone to easily quote the post without having to scroll back up to the top to do so. This has created more quoted text than before and more content is always a good thing.
Brandon I've registered and had a look. It's looks great, particularly for the subject matter. I must say that I totally agree regarding the Reply and Quote buttons. You'll have to let me know how to do this, or better still persuade your colleagues that the next V5.0 Beta release should be this way.
Great work, and thanks.
Conrad
That does look good. Although I don't see any buttons for quote/reply/add - maybe I need to register.
The login at the top and the advanced search do not open so there is some sort of conflict there. I would suggest starting by loading the SP javascript in the header see if that resolves it. Might be an ordering thing.

You do need to register to see the buttons since guest have read only access. But you did bring up a good point. I added a sp_LoggedInOutLabel next to the buttons. If not registered it tells you that you need to register to post.

That is a very intermittent thing I need to debug. I will play with the JS loading.
