Support Forum
Hi,
Very nice, useful and complete plugin for Forums! Thanks 😉
The plugin is working right so far, but I have a problem with the avatars. I am using a premium theme, where users can edit their profiles and publish articles from the front-end (they dont have any access to back-end). Therefore, They can upload avatars, which we can see on the website but I realized that Simple:Press can't recognize this avatars, therefore I see the default simple:press´s avatars in forum. It looks kind of a desynchronization.
I would like to let users update their avatars from forum page (edit profile) or their normal profile edit page. I mean, both pages should work together.
Could you advice me about it? Please, may you give me a hand.
Thanks
BestRegards
Javier
I'm no expert on avatars but my guess would be perhaps that your WP theme might be uploading them to a custom folder? I think as standard WP avatars are stored in the media library and assigned in the database as wp_user_avatar under the xx_usermeta table. If your WP theme is putting them anywhere else that might account for them not showing up - Just a thought to check anyway.
so that would indicate that your theme did something completely custom and outside of the wp api for avatars... unfortunate, since we fully support avatars added through the wp api (as most avatar plugins do)...
the forum profile supports uploading of avatars already... so they can upload them for use in the forum and in wp as well... but if we dont have access to the already uploaded avatars, they would have to reupload in the forum...

ike Avatars are in the Media Library, I confirmed it. I checked out the database you suggest me but I didn't find anything there..
@MrPapa Yeah, I know that but should be more efficient if Users can upload their avatars in any of both pages. Sorry, I don't understand the last part.
I contacted the Author of Template, so I am waiting for an answer... While, Let me attach two php files where users upload the avatars, just in case you can find something useful...
Thanks
in media library? not standard location though does make some sense for plugins... too bad the wp avatar api not used though...
no files attached...

your site doesnt recognize simple press uploaded avatars? they dont show in forum?
if you still have wp avatars as the high priority that likely would explain it as wp avatars will always return an avatar unless disabled in wp...
if you want the sp avatars to show in wp, have you enabled the replace wp avatars with sp avatars option? again, if your theme is doing avatars outside the wp api, it probably wont help...

Avatars are show in forum correctly if I upload the avatar through the forum profile page. But they don't appear in the wp site even if I marked "Replace WP avatar with SP avatar" option.
I am not a developer, therefore I am not sure if my theme load avatars without wp api. Pretty sure my theme no use the wp api
Any kind of solution that could help me?
