Users can access their own profiles by clicking on their photo, next to material that they have posted.That is fine, if the person has posted something, but I'd like for them to be able to setup their profile before they have posted to a forum.
It is possible to do that through the user page supplied by Ultimate Member, but I prefer the profile display I get from SimplePress. How might I achieve that?

Unfortunately there's no way to prevent users from posting before completing their Simple:Press profile. And, I can't think of a good work-around other than to manually monitor users and then switch their permissions after they have completed their profile. But even so, you would need to find a way to let them know why they can't post to forums.
To get this feature in a way that would work smoothly would require some custom development.
