Yes. uninstall - reload page - deactivate - delete plugin - reupload plugin - activate...
it still gives me only "Admins - Your admin options" with 4 boxes on a list I can check or uncheck.
As a side note, after reuploading the plugin and clicking activate from the upload screen it came back with an error saying the plugin didn't have a valid header. I had to activate from the plugin page.
I can email screenshots if needed. Can't quite figure out how to attach an image here with insert image button. Source??
You can attach images here using the 'Attachments' button underneath the editor.
Two quick things come to mind.. Firstly, how are you 'uploading / reuploading', through FTP? If not that is the next thing to try, download the core plugin and upload via FTP.
Also, have you got any other plugins running? It really shouldn't matter but it's possible that something is interfering somewhere along the line so at least just to rule it out you should disable every other plugin and try installing again.
I reckon the problem here is that your MySQL has been set by your host not to allow us to delete tables. The uninstall removes data (NOT code or the actual plugin). This means all of the forum tables. What you are seeing means quite certainly that the forum tables have NOT been removed on the uninstall. You should ask your host about delete privileges on your mySQL server database.

after this uninstall, was all the forum menu gone?
afraid we would have no idea what is going on if you really did uninstall and then reinstalled with this very same user account... next step would be to check the database tables and try making a manual modification to the wp user meta data of this account...
for the user in question (assume yours and the same account the sp install was done from), look in the wp_usermeta table (your prefix might be other than wp_) and find the entry for your user id and the meta_key of wp_capabilities (the wp_ should match your wpdb prefix) would be interesting to see the value of the meta_value is...
you can replace it with:
a:21:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;s:18:"SPF Manage Options";b:1;s:17:"SPF Manage Forums";b:1;s:22:"SPF Manage User Groups";b:1;s:22:"SPF Manage Permissions";b:1;s:21:"SPF Manage Components";b:1;s:16:"SPF Manage Users";b:1;s:17:"SPF Manage Admins";b:1;s:18:"SPF Manage Toolbox";b:1;s:24:"SPF Manage Configuration";s:1:"1";s:19:"SPF Manage Profiles";b:1;s:15:"SPF Manage Tags";b:1;s:17:"SPF Manage Themes";b:1;s:18:"SPF Manage Plugins";b:1;s:22:"SPF Manage Integration";b:1;s:16:"SPF Manage Polls";b:1;s:13:"SPF Manage PM";b:1;s:19:"SPF Manage Warnings";b:1;s:17:"SPF Manage Emails";b:1;s:10:"subscriber";b:1;s:21:"SPF Manage Reputation";b:1;}
and you should be set up... please use the view raw code and copy link if you copy the code so tha the quotes dont get screwed up..

well, exactly what I was trying to ask... if after you believe an uninstall has happened, do you have any sp menus? if so, uninstall did not occur... or if after uninstall, you have any wp_sfxxxxx type tables in database, no uninstall occurred...

After I uninstall the 'forum' menu item is gone from my WP dashboard.
Mr. Papa, you lost me with the code stuff. I can call godaddy on Monday and see if they know what to do with it. 🙂
I'm happy to give one of you access to godaddy account if you're willing to take a look.
Thanks again for the help.
you say access to godaddy? do you mean to the control panel for the website so we can access phpmyadmin?
if you want to provide us (yellow swordfish, ike and mr papa) with that info via private message here, we can take a look... but you should also provide us access (temp account) to the wp/sp admin for the site so we can see there as well... please us private message - do not post the info here... when sending the referenced three users the info, please also include link to this topic so we know what its about...
