Hi,
We're trying to revitalise our Simple Press forum after a long period of not much use. We want to help this by posting to our much more active Facebook page.
Is there a way to auto post new topics to Facebook (and maybe Twitter) in the way you can with Word Press posts (using a suitable plugin).
I've searched and can't see any plugins here that do the job or support forum posts. Is RSS the key?

Interesting question. We have nothing currently that will work automatically. We do have our 'Share This' plugin (https://simple-press.com/downl.....is-plugin/) which will do the job but that does require you to click on a button!
I am going to give this some thought and discuss with colleagues. It shouldn't be too hared - for example - to plug something into the WP Pipes plugin that might do the trick.

we tried a while back, but the facebook api was not as robust... agree with Andy, it should be too hard to simply post to facebook.. might even be a simple plugin... of course, gets more complicated if you do things like only do for new topics and then add replies as facebook comments or pull facebook comments back into the forum as posts...

Sure. Consider using IFTTT (If This Then That). Create a recipe for auto-posting via RSS, then use the RSS feed for your forums "If" to post to your Facebooke page ot Twitter "That".
Depending upon how popular your forums become, your page could get slammed with all replies to topics, unless there is a way to pull an RSS feed for only new topics and not include all replies...
We use IFTTT recipes to auto-post blog posts via RSS feed to various social networks, so there's no reason it wouldn't work for feeds from SP forums.
