Auto save posts?

I just worked on a new post for over an hour, added many links and pictures, only to lose it all when I apparently accidentally clicked on "something."

Hitting the back button left me with nothing.

I suppose I'm so used to the WP auto save, it never occurred to me to post a partial post just so I wouldn't lose all my work.

Is there some setting I missed?

Simple:Press does not perform auto-save and never has,

Version 5,5.8 DID introduce the check when leaving the editor page after editing had started so that you would get asked if you really wanted to leave the page and that seems to working well and as expected.

So I do not understand how you could have left the page and -even if you did - then performing a 'back' operation and re-opening the editor has always retrieved the post text for me. Are you sure you actually had a page reload of some sort? It would help to know what the something was you clicked on of course.

I really don't know what exactly happened, selected a file to upload and was going to click on upload -- all of a sudden I was at the new post screen (WP, not SP).

I definitely didn't get a question about wanting to leave the page, very strange!

When I went to redo the post, the subject and the description showed up, but not the post.  Fortunately it didn't take an hour, still had all the reference pages open, but it sure was weird.

At least I know I didn't miss a setting and I'll try to do an occasional copy of future long posts, just in case.

I have to say I am afraid I have absolutely no idea how you could possibly get from the forum front-end new topic page...  to the WordPress back-end/Admin new post page in one click of the mouse. Unless you have a special menu entry or something for that. It would be useful to know...

I have NO idea what happened, maybe I accidentally hit a key combo.  At least I know now that I didn't miss anything in setup.  I'll update if it happens again.

please do... we have had multiple confirmations that the "are you sure you want to leave this page" is working...  but just tons of different computer/browser/settings configurations out there....
