I would like to add the administrator of the forum to the moderator user group so that the name appears as both at the bottom of the forum.
When I try to "add new" to the moderator user group, the admin name is not listed.

Unfortunately no an admin can't be made a moderator. Since an SP admin can do everything, there is no need for them to be part of a usergroup, which is all a moderator is - a user in a usergroup with moderator permissions..

I would add that it is possible to remove admin from a user and add them to a moderator usergroup that gets every permission set... this would get them probably 98% of admin functionality...
but they cannot be both admin and moderator... that would be pretty confusing...
is there a reason you want to do that? we might be able to offer other suggestions...

Thanks, this answered my question! Was just curious why an admin couldn't be added to another usergroup.
