That sounds like a typical conflict with another plugin's or a WP theme's JavaScript. This codex article explains what this means and what to look for: https://simple-press.com/docum.....-conflict/
or we could perhaps find it if you give us a link to your forum page...

thanks!
It looks like it might be a conflict with your WordPress themes tooltips. Are you happy to make a change to your forum theme to see if it fixes the problem?
If so, go to your WordPress admin and visit Forum > Themes > Theme Editor. Find ‘spFunctions.php’ and open it up, and at the top you should see code defining tooltips to TRUE. Change the TRUE to FALSE.
Then visit Forum > Toolbox > Housekeeping and clear the CSS cache and give it another try.
If this works, then you may have to set up a child theme to preserve the change. It's an easy job as we provide the child theme frameworks for free ready to go, and doing this will future proof it for you.
Good stuff! You can download the appropriate child theme framework here. They all come with the spFunctions.php file and the tooltip code ready to go, so download, change the code, and run it as your main theme. The parent theme will continue to receive updates so you shouldn't need to touch it again.
hi,
I did that and now I get this message on the themes page
"The specified parent theme 'reboot' does not exist " and when I activate and try and use the forum it I get errors on the page-

[spGroupViewDesktop.php] - Template File Not Found
This can be caused by a missing/corrupt theme or theme file. Please check the Simple:Press Theme List admin panel and make sure a valid theme is selected. Or please check the location of the selected theme on your server and make sure the theme and the required template file exist.
