Support Forum
Greetings,
We are running the latest versions of WP and S:P. I recently changed the default URL for the website to the root directory per the instructions from WP. All seemingly worked well; however, after logging in, the users get a blank page. I looked in forum options and saw a link to the old URL under WP Admin Pages Access. I changed the link, but the page won't save. The saving icon just goes around and around.
Best regards,
mike c

sorry, what does this mean? default url?? are you talking permalinks here? or did you move WordPress out of a subdirectory into the top level directory?
and what is WP Admin Pages Access???
if you changed the site permalinks, can you update the forum permalink on forum - integration - page and permalink??
if other, please provide more details...

The site was located in the protrak.org/wpt directory (still is). I did not physically move the site, just annotated and moved the index.php and .htaccess to the root directory per (http://codex.wordpress.org/Giv....._Directory) and changed the General Settings for Wordpress Address (protrak.org/wpt) and Site address (protrak.org/wpt) to the following.
protrak.org/wpt protrak.org Everything including Simple:Press runs; however, a user logging in receives a blank screen of the old URL (protrak.org/wpt). Any attempts to modify the settings of Simple:Press result in an apparent hung page.
if you changed the site permalinks, can you update the forum permalink on forum - integration - page and permalink?? - cannot update the permalink.
When I try to change and save anything in the Simple:Press setup/options section, an icon displays with the words Please Wait... with a rotating busy symbol but nothing ever happens. It waited over an hour and did not resolve or save the changes.
I deactivated the forum, reactivated but to no avail. i have not uninstalled for fear of losing the forum contact.
if other, please provide more details...

ah, not a default url, but running wp in subdirectory (which I do often)... got it now...
but guessing you have not configured it correctly... your website at: http://protrak.org/ does not load correctly...
have you updated the wp url on wp - settings - permalink.. and of course, made the .htaccess change required by wp to do that?
first step is to get the basic wp site working...

Howdy,
Thanks for the response. I did make the recommended changes to both the htaccess and index.php files, uploaded them to the root and set the permalinks to default. I made the other changes to WP configuration as depicted above. I suspect there is a problem with the SP settings because I set it up before the htaccess and index changes. The problem remains that I can not change any of the SP settings while WP is configured to work from the root.
Last night I restored the old htaccess and index files and the site is running very well at its original location: protrak.org/wpt.
I wonder if I can uninstall SP without loosing content and reinstall it after changing the htaccess and index files (thus enabling the access from the root).
Best regards,
mike c
I have to say that your 'moved' site was not loading for me yesterday either so it wasn't just @mr-papa that could not load it up. So like him I too wonder if the configuration was actually correct in the first place...
He is more of an expert on this than I am as he uses this particular method for his test sites. He may have more advice to give you. But yes - SP will run in this configuration quite happily and I am still leaning towards a simple permalink issue.
If you Uninstall SP then you will lose all forum data. That really is what Uninstall means. Deactivating will preserve everything.

Howdy,
Thanks for the response. Indeed, yesterday I restored it to the original configuration and it worked fine. Then I tried different things to try the URL change. Today I have it back to the original configuration and it is again working fine. I would really like to solve the problem, but am at a total loss of what to do. I suspect the problem with saving SP settings is they don't know where to save them based on the original settings. If I could solve that problem, I think it would work.
I will persist,

Howdy,
I deactivated and deleted the site. Then I performed the actions to Wordpress to access from the root. The WP site worked well at protrak.org. I downloaded and installed the latest version of SP. Interestingly, the old site structure and posts reappeared and the options would not save their configuration when changed, e.g., Integration | Page and Permalink | Update Forum Permalink.
I suspect that the database data was not deleted when I deleted the plugin.
Any ideas?
Best regards,
mike c
Sigh,
I am in a deep pit. I uninstalled SP, logged out of WP. Logged back in, added new download of SP plugin. Installed it. Selected the Perform Install button, install completed. I selected the Go to Forum Admin button, and received a page that stated "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page." at this URL: http://protrak.org/wpt/wp-admi.....ab=storage.
What should I do. I have installed (attempted) and deleted several times. Refreshed the dashboard, logged out and back in and still get this error. Any ideas?
Best regards,
mike c
Have you tried doing a manual install? The term 'You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.' is a WordPress phrase, not a Simple:Press phrase from my understanding.
