In terms of SP you have all the capabilities that are defined. And you are a WP Admin. Again I am adrift a little with MS and need Steve to chime in on that one.
By the way I would like to stress one thing. It is WordPress stopping you here not SP. SP has it's own access messages and this one is pure WP...

I tried the importer on our multisite test install and it works just fine... so a few questions...
did you do network activate of simple press and/or the importer? or just on blog 1? since its blog 1, I assume you were logged in as the super admin? also assume this is on a virgin simple press install... assume wp 3.3+? and sp 5.1.1?
guess the next step would be to see if you can create us a temp wp super admin account (or use yours) and see what is going on ourselves... if that works, please pm the credentials to yellow swordfish and mr papa with a link to this thread so we are sure what its in regards too...

Ok, cool we're getting there. I had Network Activated the Importer but not Simple Press itself...
Now I can get into the importer, but now I get this error when I try to import:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function sp_forum_ahah_support()
No data comes in after it's displayed this message multiple times.
Using wordpress 3.4, SMF V2.0.2 & latest version of Simple Press too.
Thanks
Justin
whoops. apologies. looks like the importer is using a deprecated
function from simple press that was removed last version. Andy will get
that fixed up in the AM. but definite progress.

argh. btw, if you want of to fix it yourself, just change the function call to sp_forum_api_support()... but we will get it fixed..

no problem. have already fixed it in the importer...
