I'm having another issue with Simple Press. I had to restore the site to an earlier backup going back a few weeks because the latest backups were corrupted some how. Because so much has happened in the last 3 weeks on the site I kept the current database so I didn't lose anything from the last 3 weeks. I was able to restore the site and update all the plugins but SimplePress is telling me in the admin and the frontend that SimplePress needs to be updated. (probably to match the database) Unfortunately when I click on the button to upgrade I get this message:
"It appears you are attempting to downgrade your Simple:Press Version. The Build or Version number in the sp-control.php file is lower than the currently installed version in the database.
You must restore your database to this earlier version before you can continue. You cannot simply downgrade Simple:Press files as the database has been upgraded beyond the version you are attempting to downgrade to and may cause irreparable damage to the database."
Is there anyway around this? I'm not trying to downgrade SP, I'm trying to upgrade it to the correct version to match the database. If I restore the database to the earlier version I lose a lot of other stuff from the last 3 weeks so I am trying to avoid doing that. Thanks, Steve
Hey Steve20,
All the information you're retaining in the database is all you need, but you're running in to this problem because SP relies on updating the database whenever it updates. You should be fine to manually download the latest version of the core plugin and replace it via FTP.
