why is it that when i post a link to my forum in facebook it returns a dead link?
am i missing out on any setting? kindly advise on what to do, thanks!

not sure what facebook is doing... what do you mean dead link? have you enabled the OG tags on the forum - components - seo so FB gets the standard nudge?

but mine doesn't do that, it seems FB doesn't recognize my forum... im sure this is just in settings, just don't know where.

Do I recall that you are running quite a few components of JetPack? (Remember that JetPack tends to install an awful lot of stuff that is turned on by default and needs manually turning off again).
Do you have anything active from JetPack =- or indeed any other plugin - that deals with sharing to FB? I am suspicious that it is taking the forum page url and then stripping it back to the actual, physical WP page slug for some reason. If you have anything like that active then it would be worth turning it off briefly and running some tests
