I get complaints about the forum speed on my site. People say that it's too slow when traversing around it. It takes between 4 and 15 seconds anytime you click the mouse to access a page or post. Is their a Simple:Press fix?

My forum is here:  http://www.buildtheenterprise.org/forum

When I compare it to the forum below, which is amazingly fast, I know how much better it could be.

could be as simple as hosting...  shared vs vps vs dedicated...

but the forum you reference is a non WP based site... so a forum sitting on top of WP will be slightly slower because WP has to do all its stuff first...

for me, most of your pages load in about < 2 seconds (tried couple dozen page loads) with some almost instantaneous...  not seeing anything like the times you mentioned...  have you also tried as a guest?  could you have other wp plugins that are user based?

the number of forums shown in group view, number of topics in forum view and number of posts in topic view can also have an impact...

Thanks Mr. Papa. I logged out and then visited the forum as a guest and sure enough I am seeing about the same 2 second response time you are seeing. Any idea why things would slow down significantly for members who log in?

The only plugin I have for Simple:Press is the Editor TinyMCE. I just tried deactivating this, and it didn't make much difference.

I was asking about other wp plugins... anything that adds stuff for admins?

no admin bar plugin for sp?  can you look at your db?  are there any entries in the sfwaiting table?

It's strange that it only impacts people who log in. That means when you log in some software overhead kicks in somewhere to slow things down. Have others had a similar problem with Simple:Press when it runs on wp?

I disabled most wp plug ins and that did not help. All I left active were FB likes, sidebar widgets, and a spam blocker. None of these seem tied only to admins.

Are there any forum config options that are known to speed things up?

there are no known issues with simple press in this area... generally, we dont do anything different...

have you tried when logged in as regular user instead of sp admin? might help narrow it down...

you never answered back my question about sfwaiting table... large number of items in there could slow it down for admins, but you are not using the admin bar plugin, but worth checking...

as I said, in your db... use whatever db tool your host gives you - typically phpmyadmin...

Using phpmyadmin in the cpanel I see that sfwaiting table has just 4 kB in it.

One big table is be_wp_sferrorlog. This seems to be a Simple:Press support table.

be_wp_sferrorlog has 28.5 MB (168k rows). But out of 420 MB for all tables, maybe that's not so bad.
