the error log wont slow it down... but you can clear it on forum - integration - error log...

how many rows in sfwaiting?  that is where posts awaiting viewing by an admin are held...  but without the admin bar plugin, shouldnt be in heavy use... do you require posts to be moderated?

1) sfwaiting has 0 rows and 4kB.

2) Users must register to add a post. But there is no moderation. (I will double check on this.)

I notice on this Simple:Press support forum that it takes about 4 seconds to access any page. That is a little slow, but not terribly slow. Do you know if this is due to not having a dedicated server of due to Simple:Press software? (I'm trying to understand whether if I upgraded to VSP or a dedicated server if this would solve my delay problem.)

I could live with 4 seconds, but I am seeing like 5-12 typically on my forum.

This site runs on a VPS which clearly is a giant step up from shared hosting.

Actually - I find our site here rather slow loading - frustratingly at times - but it is ALL pages I find slow - not just the forum. Hitting the blog page or some of the others is no quicker.

I would clear out that error log as Steve suggested. After you do that it should now never hold more records than 50 rows.

Good news on sfwaiting which can slow things down.

If there really is that kind of disparity between admin/user/guest load times then I would look at your other Wp plugins just in case one of those is the issue. For example - are any of them making remote http requests that are only made when logged in...

I don't see any error log under integration. I see one under Toolbox. But when I click on this error log it just gives blank area in the menu.

The SP error log has always been within the Toolbox section.

Are you saying that you are unable to view it? That might be the case if it has got so big that you are running out of php memory just trying to load it.

Would then be worth - is possible - emptying it out in the database directly. The table name is sferrorlog.

That's interesting. I went to the cpanel and found a  table called be_wp_sferrorlog. It has 473k rows and 84MiB.  I assume this is pretty big. Are you saying I can empty this?  And is this table only used with Simple:Press?

yes, you can empty... yes, its only used by SP... a while back there was a bug in SP where we were incorrectly letting it grow to big...  it should only keep the last 50 entries... and a recent version corrected that...

Okay, I emptied wp_sferrorlog. After going to the forum a few times I then checked error log in the tool box and now about 30 errors showed up. So I deleted those.

After doing the above, I think that the forum has speeded up some now. But it still takes 5 seconds when you initially click on my main site's tab to go to the forum. Then it takes about 4 seconds to go to any page of the forum.

But when I log out, I can get to the forum in about 2 seconds and I can get to any page in about 2 seconds.

So for logged in users, it's still pretty slow. Any more ideas to speed things up?

None at all I am afraid.

But - I would like to hear more about these errors filling your log in case they are relevant. can you paste a few here? If you could avoid duplicates it would make it easier rather than a list of repeated error entries...

Just checked and there are about 30 new errors. They all say this:

file: /simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-auths.php
line: 32
function: sp_get_auth
Notice | Trying to get property of non-object
