Is there a fix for the butchered formatting that accompanies email notifications e.g. back slashes proceed apostrophes \' and quotation marks \" and ampersands come out as & or &
Minor annoyance imo, but I'm getting hounded about it.

we have fixed the quotation marks... but not sure we can do much about the &... usually they are encoded, but we can research... would just be better if they were html emails, but that cause too man problems for folks with poor email clients...

i downloaded and renamed as sp-subs-gr_Gr
mo and po together inside sp-resources>forum-language>sp-plugins
together with other po from other plugins
only the sp defaults translations work which is in the sp themes folder
am i doing somethong wrong?
nothing that i have translates works for plugins and for admin and frontend!
only the theme translation!
not big deal but there are some things that i would like to 100% localize!

i downloaded the plugin po which is at0%
then i transalted some strings and uploaded to my site!
do they need validation before doing that from you?

On our translation site yes - they need validation. That is the way it works. You could volunteer for that role if you like as we can not do this ourselves. Just need to know your Translation site login name so we can upgrade the account.
