In Simple:Press it should be wp-content > sp-resources > forum-custom-icons, and If it doesn't already exist, create it.

I have tried creating a new folder wp-content/forum-custom-icons. But it seems to be having trouble registering in the Integration/Storage list. More later

the folder you created is different than Ike asked for... does the value entered match the directory you created?

I have amended to the one Ike suiggested but it is taking an age to update in the Integration folder.
By the way, my server help desk sent this:
"It was basically a mod_security rule was triggered and blacklisted. So I whitelisted the rule for you. Please give a try by clearing cache memory of the browser."
Needless to say, it made no difference.
And storage locations have not updated after five minutes of the spinning wheel.
Is it worth considering a re-load of the software?

so yeah something stopping the ajax from running.. stupid mod security rule makes perfect sense...
did you clear your cache and reload the admin page from the far left menu? then go back to the integration panel... depending on browser, might even close the browser and reopen...
I would not waste time uninstalling or removing at this point...

Not sure what you meant by "reload ... from the far left menu". Icleared the cache OK but that didn't work
I'm wondering if it might be an IP address issue (I'm doing this in a hotel in Mexico),

in the wp admin, on the far left side, is the admin menu... posts, pages, plugins, etc... one is forum... I was asking you to navigate to the forum admin from there... not just loading the storage location panel again from the forum accordion menus...
I dont see any way an IP would matter...
if after all that its still occurring, you might go back to your host... and make sure the whitelist rule as broad enough to handle all the admin panels... personally, if it was me, I would tell em to turn off mod security all together - it gets more false positives than true protection in my experiences...

By the way, just to complicate matters, some a-hole is trying to hack into my website from a variety of IP addresses using "admin" and another username I have used elsewhere. Aaaargh!

The most annoying thing is that WordPress offers no UI for changing your own username - although it can be changed if necessary.
Also might be worth checkin gout something https://wordpress.org/plugins/.....-attempts/ - which we have used in the paszt
