Fellow admin doesn't have same buttons as me?

Hi there,

When I click on a thread, at the top right, I can thank, PM, delete, quote, edit and report posts, but my other admin doesn't have those options and not sure where else to look to see how he gets the same options as me. At the very least, he wants to be able to quote people.

So if you can help me find that, that would be great.

Also, how can I remove the "print this post" icon?

Thanks.

Did you make the other admin a Simple:Press admin?
You can have WP admins and SP admins. In the back end you can go to Forum > Admins > Manage Admins and add the WP admins to SP.

Removing the Print this post icon is done by editing the SP theme where it displays that. You can create a custom theme and then remove that line of code.

If you want to do that we can point you in the right direction to do so.

Unfortunately, I don't think that did it. He was already an S:P admin, but I removed him and readded him just in case. We're the only two S:P AND W:P admins, but for some reason he can't quote people. He can delete posts and do other admin commands, but can't do the simple thing like quote posts like I and my test "non-admin" account can. Any ideas?

And yes, if you can let me know where I can delete the print this post icon, that'd be great. I already have a custom theme setup.

Thanks!

EDIT:

Okay, so now he has quotes, however, on certain threads neither of us see quotes. Are there certain threads that you can make where people can't use quotes? It seems silly to see them in some and not others, so if you have any clue on that, that'd be great, thanks! :D

All very curious! What hapened to cause you to make the edit above? I mean really what changed so that suddenly this other admin CAN see quotes?

And what about the otherr buttons you originally said this other admin did not get? If we can sort out what is and is not being shown now - and why it is different to the first post in the thread, then that might help work out what is going on.

I think what it was, is that he was always able to see his quotes, but only in certain topics. I notice that I have the same issue. I think right now, it's just wondering why we can see the "quote" button on SOME topics, but not all.

I'll have to find out tomorrow exactly which buttons he doesn't have as an admin, and then I'll respond back. In the meantime, I'd like to remove the printer icon, if you can show me what template I need to edit and figure out above about the quote button.

Thanks again,

Very, very odd!

I would suggest one quick test you can make. Go to your forum admin > Toolbox > Housekeeping panel and click on the 'Reset Auths Cache' task button.  It is unlikely to be a permissions problem but this will ensure that users permissions are rebuilt in case there is an anomaly in the permission data.

Sorry - forgot to add the question on the print button.

The template is spTopicView.php in the /templates folder of the SP theme you are using.

The function to comment out or remove is sp_PostIndexPrint().

As always we recommend that you create your own SP theme so that any customisation is not lost during a future update. (http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-a-theme/)

Alright, so definitely the only issue is that we can only see the quote buttons on topics WE created. So every other thread someone else starts, we can't see the quote button at all, which is silly. It should available on every post xD

I tried the Reset Auths Cache, and that didn't change anything. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the telling me how to remove the print button. That worked out just fine.

Here are images so you can see what I'm seeing with the quote button and without.

it is not that it is 'silly'. It is more that it seems broken on some way. Not just the Quotes I see - bit also no PM or Report Post button either. Not behaviour that is correct but also not behaviour we have had reported or seen before. So my first task is to collect data to see if we can work out what is wrong.

Can one of you please, while logged in as a forum 'Admin', click on the profile button in the forum header. Then click on the 'Permissions' tab of the profile form. And then select a forum where you know this is odd behaviour is happening and click on the View button.

As an SP Admin ALL the permissions should show a green tick graphic with the exception of 2 items which should show a red cross graphic.

Is this what you see?

Hi Swordfish,

So I checked the permissions tab in the profile (Never saw that before, thanks!), and yes, all of my ticks are shown as green except for the two that are red.

Thanks.
