My forum is sadly having this problem as well. What can I do? Give you access to look at my wp install?

A link to your forum page would be a good start

http://www.youryearofmiracles.com/forum

however first login with a sample account I set up:

username: xxxx
Password: xxxx

Note that is just a demo account I will delete after we are done.

However I can add that after I upgrade this is what appeared through the same process as the original poster and I have already tried all the tricks you talked about in this topic.

It almost seems like the CSS is not loading somehow now…

If the cached CSS option IS turned on could you go to the toolbox > housekeeping and click on the option to ‘Reset combined CSS Cache’…

Not quite sure what is going on here but NONE of the forum CSS is being loaded… so…

While scratching my head looking puzzled a couple more questions.

There appears to be something you are using that joins up CSS files or does something with them,. From your WP theme folder in a folder called ‘css-compiled’. is this somethign new you have started to use? I am not suggesting a culprit – just looking around to see if anyting stands out.

Also – was anything else updated at the same time? WP Theme? WP plugins? Any new WP plugins?

Third question… what WP theme is this please?

Ok I come to you bearing answers. First some answers:

1. We were on WordPress 4.01 and Simple Press 5.5.2, the theme was also outdated.
2. So updated wordpress to 4.1 and then Simplepress to 5.5.3 and the theme to 1.2.12.
3. I did not add any new plugins and plugins that were updated were done a couple days ago well before I did this upgrade and the forum was working until now.

I do have some answers I think though. I am using a theme from RocketTheme.com called Vermillion using the Gantry framework. I have not updated the theme or the gantry framework because they do not say they need one.

However if I change the theme of my entire wordpress site to something else the forum does indeed work so it looks like it is something not getting along with gantry or rockettheme that has been introduced into 5.5.3.

So atleast it is figured out that far!

Anyway you can take a look?

Gantry is an oddball framework.

On forum admin > Integration > Page and Permalink there is an option right at the bottom labelled ‘Bypass wp_head action complete requirement’. Is this on or off and does anything change if you change the setting )making sure to leave it as you found it if it makes no difference).

It is set to ‘on’ in  admin > Integration > Page and Permalink but if I turn it off, the forum is just then an empty page so I set and am leaving it to on.

OK one last thing before I start a local conference here! Can you go to the toolbox > Error Log and tell me if there are any errors reported. JUST errors please – the pink entries? If any can you copy and paste them here…

There are no errors, but I will do you one better. I found the problem.

I installed a new wordpress install with vermillion and a fresh install of simplepress.

The forum worked! So I deduced it must be one of the simplepress premium plugins that I installed. I have 22 installed. I started disabling them one by one and I found the problem.

Both the plugins ‘Watches’ and ‘Subscriptions’ are the culprits that are breaking the functionality.

If I disable those 2 the forum works just fine…

I would like to have them working however, is it possible to fix these plugins?
