Yes they are up to date and they worked before I just barely updated them from their previous versions.
look at the subscription and watches directories in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins… are they correctly subscriptions and watches? they dont have a number appended to them?
if okay, try one thing… in your sp theme spFunctions.php template file, find this:
define(‘SP_USE_PRETTY_CBOX’, true);
and try changing it to false…
as always, we strongly suggest you have a child them or your own theme vice editing our theme..
Hi guys.
I started a similar thread a little while ago, then I went overseas and I forgot about it!
Now I see this one so I want to let you know. I had the same problem as a couple of other users here, the CSS weren’t loaded. I changed theme, changed everything. Then a user here said something about a couple of plugins.
I deactivated them all and found out. The problem is Template Tags and Widgets 1.4.4.
I do not have a newer version. For my site, the problem is that one.
Pity, I love that plugin but I cannot use it at the moment.
I hope you guys will be able to find out what is going on, so I can use it again.
Stefano:
We do not believe there is a problem as such with any of the plugins. For people who have experienced problems here – and it is just a small handful – it seems to have been different plugins.
Sadly @evermorev has not come back to us yet regarding the last question we asked which was: ‘look at the subscription and watches directories in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins… are they correctly subscriptions and watches? they don’t have a number appended to them?’.
Could you check the same thing but for the ‘template-tags’ folder?
Andy, I looked at the folder wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins. It is completely empty!
I uninstalled Template Tags and Widgets, installed it again and the problem is still there.
Everything else seems working perfectly…
It can’t be empty! Although I assume that IS the location where you are storing the SP plugins?
Re-installing can actually cause the issue with the numeric on the end as this is a small WordPress bug and can be caused by trying to install multiple times. So this still needs checking.
Can you also tell me if any errors are being reported in your error log? The SP one in the toolbox is a good start – the errors are shaded pink. But if nothing there then you might have to take a look at the error log on your server,.
Andy, the storage folder for the plugins (which I don’t remember I have ever changed) is wp-content/forum-plugins.
I checked both the error logs (SP and the server). In SP there is nothing, on the server there are a few but none of them is related (I think…) to SP…
Odd. ‘wp-content/forum-plugins’ is not the default location. If you go to the forum admin > integration > storage locations is it set correctly there and shown to be readable and writable?
Can we also assume that you found the ‘template-tags’ folder and it all looks correctly named?
Perhaps also if you give me a link to your forum page I can at least look at the source and see if anything stands out…
Everything looks fine to me, Andy.
The forum is visible to members only, I set up an admin account for you and sent you the details in PM.
Wow… that is very, very strange and sadly I saw absolutely no logical reason for it.
So – the next stage. Can you go to your Simple:Press plugins folder and remove/delete the ‘template-tags’ sub-folder completely. JUST that one. Leave all the others alone.
Then download from here a new copy of the template tags plugin to your local PC. Unzip it to its folder and then copy it up to the server into the SP plugins folder using FTP. Preferably not FileZilla which has caused its own problems in the past.
I am just wanting to eliminate a simple file corruption here just in case. We could do this for you if you have any concerns but would then also need FTP credentials – I will leave that up to you.
There are two other things. I see you are using the wp-total-cache plugin. This is fine except you should really exclude the forum page from using it as it will not correctly display the correct forum data which is too dynamic for such a simple caching system. You will need to exclude the forum page slug on ALL the components of wp-total-cache that you are using – it does have exclusion sections.
And secondly – I see you are using JetPack. If possible – could you try deactivating JetPack (briefly) and activating the template tags plugin just to make sure there is no conflict here, Sadly jetpack does cause the odd conflict despite it’s trusted source.
Nothing, Andy…
Folder cancelled and new plugin installed, Jetpack deactivated and the forum page added to W3TC everywhere.
Nothing changed, still the same problem…
Everything worked perfectly, I had the same set up for over 3 years.
After the upgrade to WordPress 4.1 the problem started.
It probably has something to do with WP itself, but…how?
I must say we are all a bit stumped on this. It has to be, I think, some kind of local issue as we have, of course, a lot of users with these plugins active including us indeed.
Is there any chance you could (again briefly) activate one of the default WordPress themes to see if that works?
Done.
I tried with Twenty Ten, Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Fourteen.
Still nothing…
We are going to have to have a talk here about what this might be as nothing really explains it. I am sorry you are experiencing this one…
