Done! And thanks... that redirected still to the user profile but al least showing the Forum UI for editing the profile. Any idea how I can make it go to the main page of the forum itself, not the user profile? Although this is much better I think it will be still very confusing for the average user that has just joined my forum: they still will not have a clue on what to do.
Also, the email that WP sends is really terrible, it used to have the randomly generated password, which was not great but it was clear. Now it has the link of the forum, which takes to the login that the user cannot use because he/she does not have the password (doh!) and below that, in English, the sentence: "Forum di Mangia senza Pancia Nuova registrazione utentePassword Retrieval URL:" and the link... which is far from understandable and intuitive for non computer literate users. I know this is nothing to do with Simple Press, but do you have any suggestion on how I can improve all of this? Thanks a lot!

I think you are saying that it now redirects to the FORUM profile. Is that correct? If so then perhaps on the form admin > profiles > options - you have the option turned on to go to the profile the first time a user logs in.
As to the email. First thing I would check is forum admin > options > email settings - and check the new user registration email. If the SP version is on, you could turn it off to see what you get. If it is on - and you prefer to keep it - you can format the content of the email that gets sent.
Also may I point out that we offer an SP plugin that can format all emails in HTML giving you the opportunity to use decent styling.

I have only tested the first suggestion. I had ticked the Forum profile form in the Profile Entry Form Mode. I instead specified the home page of the forum and no Query (I don't know what should I enter there). This did not work... Maybe you can explain what goes in the Query string variable name?
I have to go out now, will look into the other suggestions later, thanks!

I was only referring to the section 'First Forum Visit'.
For further help and description on all the other options there, I can't really do any better than the popup help for each section.

Display profile form on login checked off did the trick for the redirection to the forum! Oh yeah!!! 😀

And I solved the problem with the email too!! I forgot completely the email options. I think I may need to study all the configuration screens again. I will also look into the plugin you have mentioned.
But for me this issu in now closed. Thanks a lot for the help!!
