no it wouldnt be a category... unless you created a category called forum and wp is getting confused...
worth checking... and making sure you dont have a forum page in the trash too...
since Andy did the change, will have to wait for him to come back and verify... I can also try later tonight...

Bingo!
Somehow a category was created called forum and this was obviously the problem as it is now working once the category was deleted.
