Hi, we have a number of people who have their username as emails and these are now showing in the forum. How can I hide these or display another name?
To clarify, these users don’t have a firstname / surname which is the default display setting in the forum.
You can’t do anything generically for just these users…
But, for each user, they or admins, can edit their profile and change their display name…
Additionally, you can alter globally for the forum, what user components make up the displayed name. The default is the wp display name… You would change that on forum – profiles – profile options…
I’ve tried this but it doesn’t seem to be updating them in the List Of Newest Members at the bottom of the forum. It looks like it’s updated to first name and last name everywhere else except there.
The footer at the bottom of the screen is cached. It should age out over the next 24 or 48 hours. Let us know if it continues to show the same data after that time.
I honestly cannot remember if changing the names updates the recent members… so please let us know if it corrects when the cache is updated… if not, we can give you instructions on how to clear it and it will start populating correctly post change…
I’ve realised the issue is people are joining with the username as their email as that’s how our payment processor adds them. Can I hide the Newest Members in the footer?
Try going to forum – options – display settings and set number of recent members to 0…
