first, if the sp-resources directory cannot be created due to permissions or error, you are notified of it in the install window with directions on how to create manually... which you could always do at any time...

but at this point, no real idea what kind of install you have remaining... best bet is to clean it out and start over...

warning...  this will delete all files and data...

deactivate simple press

if in wp-content you have an sp-resources folder now, delete it and anything under it...

in wp-content/plugins/remove the simple-press folder and anything under it...

make a db backup just in case you do something wrong...  in your db, using a db tool such as phpmyadmin, delete any tables associated with simple press...  they will all start with wp_sfxxx where xxx is the rest of the table name...   your wp db prefix may be other than wp_

grab a fresh copy of the simple press plugin from our site, version 5.5.1...  either unzip it and upload to your plugins folder, or use the wp plugin installer...

activate and install...  after install, be sure to make note of any messages...
