Truly sorry. I added the line to the wrong wp-config file. It should now be in the right file for the site.  

okay, thanks..  dont really think its the issue, but was seeing some odd stuff…  have friends in town today so out most of day – will try to look again tonight…

I have just tried an install and seen the odd messages in the install display. Have now deactivated plugin and will talk to colleagues here about what I have witnessed.

I appreciate the help. I might comment that these issues surprise me because of the popularity of SimplePress and WordPress and that Avada is the number one theme out there with some four hundred thousand users. I can’t be the only person with these issues, can I?

Actually yes – all too easily. We don’t believe this has anything to do with Avada.

Think about it… There are thousands of themes and thousands of plugins for WordPress. The combinations are infinite. And that is both the strength and the weakness of the platform. it only takes one of those plugins to be not quite right/standard etc., and chaos can reign.

I am unfamiliar with most of your plugins but even I can see code getting loaded in the admin that should not be because a plugin author is not making the simple check of what is being requested by the browser. I am sorry to say we see things like this quite often – not as bad and difficult to pin down – but similar things.

Without doubt (much doubt anyway) this is a plugin conflict where one of those you have active – and you do have a large number – is not behaving and is killing the AJAX return calls which – as a matter of fact – are all performed using standard WP standards.

We are still discussing and trying to think what it might be.

You said you were busy, so I’m wondering if you wanted me to disable all the plugins and, if so, when you wanted me to do that. 

yes…  should be no issues, but frankly, you know the site better than we do, and have accesses to put back…

I have tried disabling a couple of potential plugins (and re-enabling) but didnt help…

first thing I would do is switch to temp wp theme and see if any different…

if not, then disable all plugins, and try again…  note, after disabling, there is a recently active tab which can show you ones that you had active..

My membership is about to expire again, so I’m not sure if I should just give up or keep trying to get this installed. I paid for the reboot theme so I’d rather not walk away. 

would like to help you solve your local issue too!  have you tried the steps listed in the previous post #52?  Trying to isolate what might be interfering…

I switched the theme and ran the install. It completed with no errors, but when I clicked on the blue button at the bottom Go To Forum Admin I get an error message “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page”. In the menu on the left it still shows Install Simple Press.

So. As we really suspeted.Nothing to do with theme. It’s one of those plugins.
