When logged in to the forum as an administrator and viewing posts and topics the front end dropdown forum toolset isn't functioning correctly. Yellow Swordfish thought it was because of a javascipt conflict. Unfortunately I have inherited this site from another designer and am not sure of the amendments they made to the main template.
To check wether the Javascript was direectly affecting this issue I tested the forum in the original Twenty Eleven Theme and unfortunately it was stil there so I'm hoping you may be able to identify something else causing the issue.
When a post is made the toolset is usually populated with user id, user ip, etc. however any posts since I updated the simplepress plugins and main theme on 15th Nov 2012 the forum toolset is'nt opening correctly for any posts sinse that date, even though it still opens correctly for posts before that date. If it was a javascript issue wouldn't it affect all instances of the toolset before and after the 15th?
I sent a PM over to Yellow Swordfish with full admin login details for LandlordReferencing.co.uk if you wanted to have a look, please note this is a live site and we usually do our testing between 11pm and 2am GMT, we are trying to build a staging platform but as it is a multisite it is proving harder than usual.
Look forward to your reply.
I must say that I no longer have the credentials as we do not hang on to them once a problem has been resolved and I am afraid I did forget about this other question when I removed them.
However - this issue is still, I believe, because an old copy of the jQuery library is being loaded from ajax.googleapis.com. This is a fairly common symptom with so many themes and plugins NOT abiding by the WP API and rules. And there will be other areas of SP that will not be functioning correctly due to this.
If you have discounted the theme as being the culprit then it has to be coming from one of the plugins.
Whether it is relevant or not - it is being loaded immediately after the Studio theme's CSS file and before something called 'collapse-o-matic' so it is conceivable that this is the plugin loading it. You could try briefly deactivating it to see if this is the case.
Bit basically the plugin responsible - if we have discounted the theme - needs to be found.
