its not confirmed a problem yet really... not trying to be cute, but circumstantial at the moment... you tried it with similar user... we tried it with many test users... all have worked fine... need to really see it with affected user...and you already said you cleared the auths cache on forum - tools - housekeeping... which makes sure there is no incorrect auths caching going on...
Yes, I did clear auths cache and that didn't fix the issue.
my point exactly... forums - forums - manage groups and forums... click on the the forum permissions button for the fantasy forum (or any forum for that matter) to see the usergroup/permissions combination assigned to any forum...

That is so weird...
I don't remember setting up permissions like that. The fantasy sports forum is the only forum that had the collectors user group as an additional permission set attached to it. All others, just guest, members, and mods. By default, all of the members of the collectors user group have access to all of the public forums on the site because they are members.
I have removed the collectors permission set from the fantasy sports thread.
btw, dont expect it to really make a difference, but its more correct the way you just changed it too...
and when you query your mods, make sure they are not trying to edit a post in the private forum... they dont have permission in that forum, but should in rest...

That's the thing, I want my mods to be able to edit their posts in the private forum.
then instead of giving them standard access, give the whole collectors group moderator access to the private forum... or remove the mods from the colectors group and add the moderators usergroup with moderator access...

I don't want all users to be able to edit their posts in the private forum, just the mods. Is that possible?
Okay, I added the moderator user group with moderator access. But then again, that means that if the forum takes on more mods in the future, they will have access to the private forum. Right?
yes, that its... sort of... now there is no need for the 2 moderator users to be members of the collectors group unless you just want them to show as part of the group... really doesnt matter...
but you, and or us, really need to see the editing not work for one of the moderator users since we both see it working for other users...
