So...error persists after unlocking topic prior to move.
Yet, moving the only post in the topic to a new topic in another forum proves successful, with removal of the empty topic in the source forum. (Hope that makes sense.) So, this is our workaround since it cannot be replicated.
No new error in the SP log though, perhaps because it was identical. Looks like timestamp on error may have been updated.
Reassigned user of first post and issue persisted upon attempted move.
Noting special about topic title.

lost at the moment...no matter what I try, I cannot replicate... you are running 6.0.6 right?
have tried just about any combination that I can think of...
have asked Andy to try a test as well...

Affirmative.
Our workaround for the time being with to just move the first post in topic, along with any subsequent posts in the topic, if necessary.
We'll see if pending update for moving posts make any difference.
Thanks!

so Andy tried numerous ways to replicate this issue and is also unable to replicate... works in all cases he or I have tried... so I guess, we need step by step walk through on how to recreate...
have you tried with multiple topics or just the one? the error you posted says the topic you moved did not have a user id associated with the topic... would be worth a look in the database in the sftopics table for this topic and see if there is indeed a user_id value in the row...

Hmm...thanks for the feedback and direction. I'll investigate further and report back. Fortunately, this is not an urgent matter.

Interesting to see if the user ID is empty on the topic record in question. It should not be. Even if not posted/started by a member it should at least have a zero in it.
Worth stressing that this has nothing to do with the actual topic move. This issue happened when trying to construct the notification to the topic 'starter' that it had been moved.

Yes, the topic does actually move, I shall investigate further.

So...does the user who has their topic moved get notified? By Email? We have always sent a PM to notify members with a link when moving their topic...

They do... they get a notice at the top of the forum next time they log in... It will persist for 30 days or until they dismiss it...
There is an option on forum - admins - global admin options for enabling or disabling... yours is clearly enabled since generating that notice is where it fails...

Interesting, user_id was NULL for this topic.
Created new topic as non-admin member. Confirmed user_id assigned in wp_1_sftopics.
Moved topic successfully with no db error.
Notice displayed for user who started topic.
Assigned user_id=1 to problematic topic.
Successfully moved said topic without error.

I'm chalking this one up to Gremlins. Thanks much for the troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to the pending update to address the move post issue I originally brought up for this topic.
Cheers!
