Sorry for all of the questions but as Steve said, the combination of SP and WLM is pretty common and this sort of issue is rare.
Let's just confirm 2 version questions. What version of SP did you recently upgrade from? And are you using an up to date version of WLM?.
And finally - if all else fails would you be willing to let us take a look at your forum admin if needed?

No problem...I'm on v2.7.1 of WLM (most recent). For SP, I was on v4.something (sorry for the lack of specificity...I don't have access to the old version to check). I installed it about 1 year ago, if that helps.
I can provide you with a wp-admin login & link...but would prefer to do that through a private message or email.
Thanks!
That would be useful I think - thanks.
Please PM credentials to both myself and to 'Mr Papa'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you - see if we can find anything...

Unfortunately, the account you created for us is not an sp admin... it is a wp admin, but those are not the same things and a wp admin is not necessarily an sp admin...
please go to forum - admins - manage admins and make that account have all the sp admin capabilities...
and just to check, you are talking about NEW registered users here, right? and not existing users...
also, you have something called optimze press on there which has its own membership stuff... are you using that too?

Thanks...I just made the account SP Admin.
Correct...the problem happens when NEW users register. You can add a new user yourself to re-create the problem.
Optimize Press is a theme...it has some membership site templates, but doesn't do any authentication. All membership permissions for the forum are through WLM and SP.
a bit puzzled... see nothing wrong in settings... but as mentioned, wishlist and simple press is quite a common set up - even the wishlist folks use it...
can you check your error log for any info? oddly when I am on the manage usergroups panel, something is keeping the page from completing display (no wp or sp footer stuff).. curious as to what.. hard to imagine related, but curious none the less...
when you create a new user, is the entry in sfmembers created for the user? and if not, have you tried visiting the forum and logging in? does it get created then with right membership?

actually I am missing the footers on my test site too... so must be something in our display code... opening ticket... but wont have anything to do with your issue afraid...
