remember, wp admins are not sp admins... you must grant any user (including wp admins) the capabilities you want them to have for admining the forum... this would be done on forum - admins - manage admins by an sp admin...
as Andy says, the only wp admin that gets sp admin by default is the wp admin that installed simple press...
