I think this is happening to me, too.

I have tested adding a new post as admin and as a regular member.

The new post as a member doesn't change the new post count for anyone, except the admin bar. (Stays at 0.)

The new post as admin doesn't change the new post count for anyone. (Stays at 0.)

I would be happy to give you admin access to my forum to troubleshoot this.

Also, my forum was just converted from a vbulletin forum -- perhaps a residual effect? Everything seems to be working fine except this (and one other thing -- moderators are not displaying on the forum pages). I am new to SP though, so I could be missing something. I read the docs on this feature and I read this entire thread before posting here.

Thank you!

to be clear and make sure it is or is not related to your other posts, whats not changing? are we talking stats or the unread posts?

also, its a bit dated, but please read:  http://wiki.simple-press.com/f.....ost-lists/

to understand how the unread posts work...  its new post since session... so after they log out or timeout current session...

The drop-down list of Recently Updated topics is not being updated for the member.

The phrase "__ topics with unread posts" stays at 0 for the member.

I read that documentation earlier, which is why I tested this by posting as admin and then logging in as a test user who was already logged out before the test account. And vice versa. I guess I could have missed something...

So, I just went through multiple tests again and what I found was that the drop down list and the unread post count was accurate for the admin. But on the test member... no. I logged out as member. Admin added a post. Member logged in. No change. Repeated three more times. No change in post count or drop down list.

Thanks.

going to have to let Andy jump in at this point... he has been dealing with the singular issue we had on this...  he has made some changes to new post handling in dev version, but since we cannot duplicate this singular issue - well two if its the same, makes it hard...

Okay. Meanwhile I will keep watching to see if it is something I'm doing wrong in testing or observing. I am new to SP, after all.

Thanks for your help. laugh

Could you check a couple of things for me.

First - go to the forum admin > Options > Global Display Settings. Unread Posts settings. Do you have a positive value in the default number of unread posts to show?

Second - logged in as the member (not admin), open the SP profile > Options Tab > Edit Display Options panel. Do you also have a positive value there for the maximum number of unread posts to list?

Just to clarify a couple of things - which sound obvious I know but easy to overlook - your list will always exclude your own forum posts and, when logged in as a member, will also exclude any posts awaiting moderation.

1. 50

2. 50 (though I just now turned on the permission for users to change this)

3. Yes, understood. Those are not at play. I just retested to be sure. (I don't even have post moderation turned on because I've got a nice, good, private group of people.)

mmm. I have to admit that at the moment I am struggling with why this would remain zero at all times. I have not had this particular behaviour reported before.

Are you using any sort of WP cache plugin by any chance?

I'm not using any WP cache.

However, my WP integration with InfusionSoft uses a plugin that caches customer information (so it isn't constantly pulling data from InfusionSoft). Could that be affecting the forum?
