good luck, there is one other option, get rid of newsmag which I am thinking of doing, there are too many tweaks that need to be done and there are some funky things that still cause issues that I have overlooked for the past year. I also am not a fan of visual composer, I have found one theme that looks pretty close to newsmag in layout and function. It doesn't us VC and offers a bunch more built in widgets and options then newsmag which cuts down on the need for various plugins.

I have been working on migrating to it but going through 300 plus blog posts and adjusting them from newsmag to magic has been a huge pain and I just need to get it done.
It is virtually inevitable that this will come down to a javascript conflict with your theme or another plugin. The only two ways to find our are to either use the web console to look for the script errors or to deactivate things one at a time until the conflict stops at which point the reason is found
Obviously the web console route does not disrupt the website. If you do not know how to do this - and it is something worth knowing how to do for all kinds of reasons - we can look at it but would require the account you set up for us to be a full Simple:Press admin account and we would need to look and work within your WP administrative area - although the account does not need to be a WP Administrator as well.
