Hi simple press team

Thanks for all your help in the past. We have just migrated our website to a new host and now see the following error on plugins page in wordpress dashboard. Would you know how to resolve this error please?

"Your server has returned a status code ofwhile attempting to communicate with the Simple:Press server to establish up to date version information.
Additionally, WordPress reported the following: Operation timed out after 5001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received
WordPress will retry this operation automatically but if the condition persists we firstly recommend seeking assistance from your hosting support team and then contacting Simple:Press support if they are unable to help."

Thanks

Well that's not really an error. It's first and foremost informational. So no code was n the message either? And did your host reckon there should be no problem contacting our server? And - also - is your site on a nginx server do you know?

The site is on litespeed..I think cloudlinux OS...

I am just concerned that this would mean that updates to simple press would not come to me?

The host has no idea. I have raised a ticket with them. no response from them as yet.

It certainly means there will not be automatic upgrades although you can still perform manual upgrades of course.
See what your host has to say first.

We have had a small - vert small - handful of people seeing this problem but of course the vast, vast majority have no issue with the server contact. If it is a one-off then it is probably just a matter of trying again. But if it persists then it has to be something operational as we have quite a large number successfully contacting the server daily. i will research the server though to see if we have any known issues there.

another question. How did the people who were having the same problem resolved it?

Well I know at least one was using nginx and it came down to a setting somewhere in the bowels of the server options! At least two I believe are just updating manually. As to the other one I remember i have to be honest and say that we do now know as they have not been in touch again.

I didn't find any suggestions on Litespeed but again - your host should know that bit.

It was permission that let php scripts access other php scripts. So basically allowed using php files to generate css.

Thanks Mr Papa. Your solution helped. Deactivating open_basedir on the server did the trick.
