Last two times I tried to update SP I received this message:

An error occurred while updating Simple:Press: Download failed. Service Unavailable

Thanks

Just tried it again:

Updating Plugin Simple:Press (1/1)

Downloading update from https://simple-press.com/downl.....php?id=722
An error occurred while updating Simple:Press: Download failed. Service Unavailable

I know that I can upload it and install it manually but is there anything else I can try to get it to work on the back end automatically?
Thanks

It means your sever is reporting a 503 against our server - in other words it was unable to find it.

Rather odd. As Steve said above it all seems to be fine and other users are updating without apparent problem. Does this happen every time you try it?

Only recently. I first thought it had something to do with the new membership plans. Paying for the plugins and such.

Also, my wordpress is asking me to upgrade the Simple:Press Database.
I'm afraid to do it before a successful download of the plugin though.

The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.

What does the forum menu say? Is that offering the upgrade and nothing else? Or the pubic forum itself? is that loading up as normal?

Forum menu offers nothing. On the back end, first a recommended upgrade, after the fail, mention of the database upgrade. I don't want the database to be newer than the plugin.

Yes same thing here..

The sucks site updated fine but Doc's Place returned the above mentioned error.

I ended up ftp downloading the updated core and plugins and manually uploading to the other site. Ran the database update and walla..

BTW i have seen this before on both sites. Just went to the url and downloaded from there.

Not sure I understand this: 'Forum menu offers nothing' What does that actually mean please?

On the back end, first a recommended upgrade, after the fail, mention of the database upgrade. I don't want the database to be newer than the plugin.

Forget this mention of a DB upgrade in the update section of the WP Admin.

The important thing is what the forum menu in the admin says. You say it offers nothing but I don't follow what you mean by that. And you didn't tell me about the front-end/public forum itself and if it is working as usual.
