I can’t speak for any of these other than having multiple reports now that wp-polls needs an update.
As Steve said last night – we are happy to take a look at your site but it would need to be with the timyMCE plugin active.

what about the rest of your plugins? have you tried with them disabled?if that doesnt help, try a temp switch to the wp default theme too and see if any better…
just temp switches to collect more data…
I dont suppose you are running the wp 3.9 version yet and our 5.4.2? both were release today and wp completely redid and replace tinymce so might be worth a try too…
We are updated to WP 3.9 and S:P 5.4.2 and the issue still persists, unfortunately.
I also disabled all S:P plugins except for the TinyMCE plugin, and did not see any improvement. I’ve also checked the forum with my theme disabled (and running the default WP 2014 theme), but that did not provide any improvement, either. I will check on my other WP plugins as soon as I am able.
In the meantime, you are welcome to log in to the forum using the account info I sent by PM the other day to see if there is anything you can discern from the inside.
Thank you.
okay, so far, every one has been resolved down to a wp plugin (the list wp has is growing daily or hourly)… not sure most plugin authors were expecting this… please let us know what happens with no other plugins active…

I rather not activate the plugin until it works. The forum will be unusable for that period. I PM’d you the admin login informaion in case you would like to trouble shoot it but I think the upcoming updates will solve the problem. I might disable plugins one by one later tonight if I can stay up that late. We have around 2000 unique visitors daily to the site and I would prefer not mess with it while there is heavy traffic.
Thanks
I believe in another topic or pm, I asked if you were okay with us deactivating plugins (or could be different user)… it will be disruptive to your site…
but so far, every issue with the tinymce editor has come down to a wp plugin issue…
if being selective, start with ones that might add buttons to wp editor.. or had gallery lightbox stuff…
Hi Mr. Papa,
I have tested (disabled) all of the other plugins on the site against the TinyMCE Editor for S:P. I have also removed my framework/theme and taken the site down to the bare bones so that only the following items are running:
(1) WordPress
(2) WordPress default “2014” theme
(3) Simple-Press
(4) TinyMCE Editor plugin for Simple-Press
Even on this bare bones installation, the TinyMCE Editor plugin continues to prevent anyone from adding a new post or topic as long as it is active. Once I deactivate the TinyMCE Editor plugin, then we can add new posts and topics, however, as you know, we lose the ability to add any styling, e.g., bold text, underline, large text, etc. to the posts that the TinyMCE Editor plugin should provide.
Given that there are no other plugins running, I do see how it can possibly be another plugin conflicting with TinyMCE. Any thoughts of where to go from here?
Oh, and our site is completely up to date with the latest versions of everything — WP, 2014 theme, S:P and TinyMCE Editor for S:P.
Thank you.
P.S. — There is a typo in my last post. I meant to say “Given that there are no other plugins running, I do not see how it can possibly be another plugin conflicting with TinyMCE. Any thoughts of where to go from here?”
My apologies if that sentence caused confusion…
is your site still in the condition you mentioned above? no plugins and default theme?
since this is still a one off (only issue with tinymce thus far that wasnt caused by another wp plugin) we would need to investigate it locally at the source of the issue…
we would need at a minimum, wp and sp admin access to the site for investigative purposes… we might also need ftp access to upload some debug code… is that possible?
have you checked the server error logs? multiple browsers? or which one specifically? are you using the sp js cache (forum – options – global settings)? if so, can you try disabling?
I just want to add that there could be others with the same problem. I just disabled my tinymce instead of finding the culprit. I know, it was very lazy of me.
Figured that being without it was no big deal though I admit that it’s much sexier with tinymce than without.
@fiddlerman, well we cant help in those cases… sorry…
@david norman, tinymce advanced just release an update this morning… would be curious if any change…

I realize of course
You guys are great. No complaints at all…. Sorry!
no offense taken 🙂 understand the reasons… only pointing we can that we can only go so far…

Hi Mr. Papa,
Right now, the site is not in the condition mentioned earlier. We restored it in order to continue the development process on other parts of the site. But we can certainly strip the site down to the bare bones config when you are ready to take a look at it.
I’m completely fine with you having WP and SP admin access to poke around and look at things. I had previously created an account for you to log into the forum on the production site. However, we are testing everything first on our development site. I have created a new user account with administrative privileges for you on the development site. Would you like me to PM you the details?
The forum and website have been tested in Firefox, Safari and IE, and in all browsers, we aren’t able to add a new post or topic.
We also were not using the SP js cache, so it was already disabled in both the development site and production site installs.
As for server logs, is there anything in particular I should look for? I’m not terribly familiar with perusing those, so if there is something that I should be on the lookout for, I want to make note of it.
If you will let me know when you would like to poke around in the site, I will be sure to strip it to the bare bones for you. And if necessary, I will also create an FTP account for you to upload your debugging software. I presume that you only need access to the development site’s home/root folder? I have several other client sites under development that are also hosted in the same hosting account, so I want to make sure we don’t need to add any scripts or programs or files to any directory other than that for the Alcohemy development website.
Thank you,
Kasey (web designer for David Norman)
probably tomorrow morning (PST) time would work… maybe 10 or so… you dont have a deployment server?
I would check the server error logs for any php error…
as to ftp, really would only need access to the wp-content folder in the site (or if you want to be more specific wp-content/sp-resources and wp-content/plugins/simple-press)…
please make sure you have a backup of db too before turning me loose… 😉 havent screwed one up yet, but also like security blanket…

OK.. so now I have it working.. this time I tracked it down to cformsII plugin – but it must have been a combined issue previously with the SP mentions plugin and that’s why disabling all the WP plugins yesterday didn’t help
Finally had a few min to get back to this. Found a setting in cforms to disable the cforms button on the tinymce toolbar and that fixed the issue with the toolbar not showing in the forums. I only use forms on my site occasionally so not having a button for easy inserting on wp pages/posts is a nice quick fix
