I tried disabling the “Mentions” plugin and enabled Editor TinyMCE Rich Text and it was no longer possible to post or reply. The problem seems to be with the “Editor TinyMCE Rich Text” plugin.

make sure you have cleared your browser cache.. and also if using them, the css and js caches on forum – toolbox – housekeeping…
keep in mind, the editor is part of wp… we just had to change to use it… do you have any other plugins that add things to the wp editor that may not have been updated yet?
fiddlerman, have you disabled tinymce???? that is not the active editor I see on your site…. was trying to troubleshoot…
I had to disable it. Not possible to post or reply when the tinymce is active. It’s the only fix that works. I’ve tried everything else that you guys have suggested.
fiddlerman, fully understand how you need to keep working… just hard for us to help more when we cannot see what is going on…
do you have a test or staging server?
can you temp disable all other wp plugins and see if it clears up? if not, also the wp default theme? just trying to rule things out lacking visible information…
Good morning,
I have disabled all WP and SP plugins, emptied server cache, disabled apache pagespeed module and re-enabled everything one by one. Took about 2 hours, but I managed to track down the problem, at least on my setup.
The culprit is WP-Polls WordPress module: when disabled, the TinyMCE Rich Text post editor works just fine.
I hope it helps others, I believe WP-Polls is quite widely used…
Cheers.
This is great news. Well – not for you of course!
Literally 15 minutes ago I had confirmation from Brandon that a site he looks after had the problem and traced it to WP-Polls. I am told that the WP team are compiling a list of plugins that have not been updated and fail to work bit I have yet to find out where they have made this public. Still hunting for that!
Thanks for the information and I hope that at least Simple:Press is now working as it should.
OK.. so now I have it working.. this time I tracked it down to cformsII plugin – but it must have been a combined issue previously with the SP mentions plugin and that’s why disabling all the WP plugins yesterday didn’t help
cForms? That’s a surprise. Well – Delicious Days use Simple:Press so we will need to have a chat with Oliver.
There must be at least one more plugin that is causing the problem because disabling my WP-Polls didn’t solve it. I re-enabled WP-Polls and disabled tinymce again.
We have a couple of reports of cForms also causing a problem. Do not know if you are using that…
There are also some notes in the WP post regarding items that have been found (see the REPORTED OOPSIES section)… Anything there?
I had the same issue (unable to add a topic or reply, as the content window was “locked”) and was able to resolve in the same fashion — making the “Editor TinyMCE Rich Text” plugin inactive. That’s a good enough fix for me, for now
These are the plugins that I am using. Reminds me that I need to clean house. LOL
