Howdy,

Today I created a new subforum; however, when I select the topic subject field in the new subforum, the field turns grey. I can enter text in the subject field. The body of the topic turns grey, too, and I am not able to edit or add content.  When I submitted the topic with just the subject field completed, the next screen was blank.

I am using the latest version of simple:press and have had the forum running for over a year without this problem.  Permissions were set when the subforum was created and double checked to ensure the correct permissions are selected.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can begin to debug this problem?

Have fun,

Mike C

Can I assume by 'topic subject' you mean what we normally call 'topic name'? And the suggestion here is that all other forums are ok - it is just this one that has an issue. Is that correct?

If that is the case then that would be most strange as the logic, the form, the whole display is the same for all forums regardless of type...

Is there any way you could give me access to this particular forum so I can try it to see if I can see anything obvious? If so could you please PM credentials to both myself, to 'Mr Papa' and to 'Ike'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

Hey Mike,

It's best I post this here so Andy or Steve don't go through the same process..

The password you've included in the PM is apparently not right. Logging in through the forum takes me to the WP login screen which asks for a captcha answer, after putting the answer in it says the password is incorrect.

No - that is me. I was already logged in and the site is set up demanding the password be changed on the first load. So - to be able to look into the problem I was forced to change the original password.

I don't actually see anything wrong as such. But there IS a CSS styling problem it seems, using the plain text editor in that it looks like it is greyed out but is, in fact, not. But it is rather ugly like that.

I will open a ticket to get the CSS changed for this and will let you know how to overcome it.

So - I can give you some CSS changes that should fix the display for you if you want to make the edits yourself. But... we will be releasing a 5.6 updat tomorrow and I have managed to sneak this fix into that so if you can wait another 24 hours....

Up to you of course.

Howdy,

I updated the forum with all the latest updates; however, the forum still responds the way it did before when I try to add a new topic.  It is repeatable on this end.  I've attached an image of the forum that is giving us problems and an image of the screen I receive when trying to post to the body of the topic.

Upon further investigation, I am not able to add a topic to other forums.  I used different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and IE) with the same result.

I am at a loss as to a solution.

Kind regards,

Mike C
