You didn't really answer my question but I will assume it was a yes - you do want to  change topic slugs.

So - if you want to do tht but do NOT change forum slugs then I would suggest you take a look at our topic ID permalink plugin (https://simple-press.com/downl.....nk-plugin/) which I think will cover what you need.

Thanks about suggestion but as you can see in first post i already have this plugin, in fact my links are:

"forum-name"/"topic_id"   -> /general/2179

The problem is still "forum-name" that changes everytime i move topics between forums ( and in more rare cases , when i rename forums )

Maybe you could allow this plugin to “remove” the forum part if a specific option enabled.

I am getting a little lost here. If I use our Topic ID Permalink plugin I can move to different forums and rename forums as much as I like and historic urls still load the topic correctly so I don't get any 404's. I see no reason why you should get any either.

Woah! i'm feeling stupid now >.<

My users reported this kind of problem ( and i tested moving and renaming topic ) before i install the topicId plugin effectively, causing the issue. I didn't imagine that simple-press already resolves fake forum-name part !

so i can write /forums/a-name-that-doesnt-exists/existing-topic-id   and it automatically redirects to the correct permalink!

it's exactly what i was looking for 😉 thank you

P.S. Maybe you should improve the description of this plugin (?)

Glad you have things working as you wanted! Agreed a couple of the plugins can be a bit hard to picture without giving them a try unless you specifically know what you want!
