I looked into the codex but was not able to find an answer.

Now I know that when new users register, they will be placed in the ‘Members’ User Group.  And I know where to change this if I ever need to.

What I don't know is that User Group 'Members' currently get 'Standard Access' Permissions and I'm looking to change this. It's not under Manage User Groups and not under Manage Permissions.

look at the old wiki http://wiki.simple-press.com the getting started section which explains how permissions and usergroups work...  that has not changed in 5.0

http://wiki.simple-press.com/g.....rmissions/ I see Default Permission Sets at the bottom but it does not tell me that by default, the User Group 'Members' get 'Standard Access' Permissions.  And I don't know how to change this.  I want the 'Members' User Groupset to 'Full Access'.

My other option would be to copy all the 'Full Access' persmissions over to 'Stardard Access' but there would be no purpose of having 2 identical Permissions Sets.

Unless I'm missing something?

still not following...

you can edit the permissions on any forum by editing the forum and setting it...

default permissions are the permissions any new forum you create will get... you can edit those by editing the group...

you can control the base group that new users go into on forum - options - member settings...

Ha!  Ok!  I was looking to assing Permissions sets to User Groups...  but Permissions sets belong to Forums.  So that was easy, it's under Add Global Permission Set.
