Support Forum
users, registration and emails are the purview of WordPress... simple press is not involved in that process...
if you search the wp support forums, you will see many topics with the same issue - primarily in shared hosting... often its because the default email account wp sends emails from is wordpress@yoursite.com... on many hosts, especially on shared hosting,if that address does not exist, the emails wont get sent...
typically, a simple solution is to install a wp smtp plugin for mail stuff... one we recommend and use is HGK SMPT plugin...

Actually, it does matter. Very much. I've spent countless amounts of time (not to mention money) trying to figure out this headache of a registration issue. Contacted support, who told me that it was not an SP issue, used various SMTP plugins, etc. Now, thanks to the suggestion of Dragonleaf, the issue has been resolved with one click! THANK YOU, Dragonleaf!!!
