When I upgrade someone to a moderator from my WP "user" page. They are hanging on to the "member" group badge and staying in that group.

First question first. you must have things set to allow a user to be in multiple user groups. You can turn that off in the user groups management section - map users to user groups form. You may have to manually remove any current user in more than one group however but it will stop it happening in future.

as to the other question - I will need to know

  1. what SP theme you are using
  2. if you have a child theme in place - which you really will need
  3. are you planning to use badges like we do here

Wonderful, fixed the multi group problem.

Now, the answers to your questions.

1. Reboot Child Framework 1.0.2

2. Yes..I think. (Says child in theme name)

3. Yes, was planning on using the ones directly on your website actually with minor modification.

I guess I would have to ask to make sure you want to do what we do??  we use a combination of special ranks and memberships... so in the topic view template file spTopicView.php, remove and forum rank template and use these instead:

                                    sp_PostIndexUserSpecialRank('tagClass=spPostUserSpecialRank spCenter&showTitle=0');
                                    sp_PostIndexUserMemberships('tagClass=spPostUserMemberships spCenter&showTitle=0');

and then we have no titles, just badges for usergroup memberships and special ranks... fyi, we use special ranks for moderators and other special members...
