What is the difference between User levels (members) and User Groups?

I created two different user groups and am using infusionsoft to assign tags that equate to the user group.  I see that members are part of one of my user groups, but I want to assign people to another user group and not be in the first one.

How an I assign people to one user group versus another?

Thank you,

not sure I understand the question... tags are not related to usergroups...

you can any user to any usergroup... that can be done in the admin on forum - usergroups - manage usergroups...

usergroups, in conjunction with permission sets, are used to control access to forums...  for more info see:   https://simple-press.com/docum.....ng-access/

If I have missed the mark, please clarify and elaborate on your question...

Well.  I guess I don't understand.  I have created a user group.  It says there are 11 members.  I can't see the members of that group.  I can't see how to assign people to the group. How do I get a person into a user group?  How do I see who is in the group?

Not sure how to be more explicit... in the forum admin in wp backend, go to forum - usergroups - manage usergroups... for each usergroup, there is an add (as well as move/delete) button that allows you to add members... there is also a show (or hide) button to display current members..

see image and red circles for locations...

Now that I have looked at the list.  They are already there..  What I see when I try to log someone in is this:

The requested group does not exist or you do not have permission to view it

Do you see that when you are logged in as a user from a group that has permission to view what you are trying to see?

Usergroups and permissions can be set for each forum. See Forum > Forums > Manage Groups and Forums.

On any forum, if you manage or edit permissions you can select usergroup and permissions to go with.

Please make sure to read the codex document Steve posted in post #2.

Sorry.  I have an issue that I need worked out.  I have assigned the user to a forum and group and I keep getting the error that she does not have permission.

I sent a PM to Pappa.

Go to the forum admin > Toolbox > Housekeeping and click on the 'Reset Auths Cache' task. If for some reason users auths (permissions) have become incorrect this will rebuild them so worth a try to see if that is all that is wrong.

I did that.  It did not solve it.

My users are not getting access to the forum or group.  They are in the forum, but can't log in.  This is still not working.  Any more suggestions?
