What is the difference between User levels (members) and User Groups?

Hold on... you have introduced another variable here. There is a world of difference between not getting to see the forums you should be able to see and not seeing them because you are not logged in. So some clarification is needed as to which scenario this is.

If it is due to not being logged in then the first thing to say and understand is that there is no 'log in to the forum'. Users log into the website and user registration, login, logout are all core WordPress functions. The forum provides an optional log in form but this is merely a 'window' into the WordPress backbone.

So which is it we are talking about here?

And if the users ARE in fact logged in to the website then they are, by definition, logged in to all aspects of the website. If at this stage they do not see the forums you believe they should see then I would assume there is still something not set up correctly within the user group/permissions/forum relationships. Do you want one of us to take a look for you?

They are logged in.  I am also using memberium, so there might be a conflict.  They use the email address to login and you use a user name field.  I would like someone to go in and see how it should be set up.

I can PM the info to someone.

I must admit this is one I have never encountered before. The main thing about membership plugins is that they need to send the same filter and action hooks as would happen with core WordPress for things to work. Mostly this does happen but we have encountered one or two that did not follow the standard WP API in this regard - and this can cause problems as without the hooks being fired, plugins like SP will not respond to member level changes.

No - as I said above - Simple:Press has nothing to do with login. As long as the WordPress core knows the user is logged in then that is the information SP and other plugins will act on.

Sure - Please PM credentials to both myself, to 'Mr Papa' and to 'Ike'. Please include in the PM a link to your site, a link to this thread and brief reminder of the problem. And one of us will take a look for you.

In this case, of course, as it is the admin setup you want us to look at we will need access to the forum admin panels (not necessarily any other WP admin pages) and the user you set up for us will need to have SP Admin capability.
