There doesn't seem to be any way for people to use images already uploaded.
Do members have access anywhere to the media they have uploaded?
Is there a "media" location for members to select from media already uploaded by others?
It appears that the images when uploaded are being placed into folders based on the settings in WP (Year Month) is there anyway to stop that?
Images are a major part of the sites that we are using Simple Press for, and although I'm happy to read this is a more secure uploader, we need some of the access that the old image uploader provided, such as reusing images (inserting from folders), and allowing our members to access their own media at the very least, but really prefer the ability to allow access to all the media.
I read (after I responded to a post) that there are plans to add the ability to add media in the editor box, would that update include adding any of these items back into the mix? Or is that gone and won't be available any longer?
I'm not complaining about the new image uploader, I understand why you went to it, I just need to understand if any of the things we used to do are possible or will be in the future.

afraid not.. unless they know the path... 99% of our users screamed for us to get rid of that file manager (which is really what you want) and go with something much simpler and easier to use...
and we responded... of course knowing that a small minority would be affected by that decison and negatively impacted...
no matter what we did, we had to get rid of the current file manager because it had too many security holes we kept plugging...
I believe we have an open ticket to either add some sort of media browser for the current user in the future (might be able to be extended for all users)... this definitely wont sneak in before 5.1 at the earliest... its a lot of work and it would need to be secure... or might be a new plugin that works with the current file uploader... if there is not a ticket, I will make sure we have one cause I understand the desire for that...
editing images is another story and not really on our roadmap...
maybe some enterprising individual will create a plugin for sp for all this... its certainly doable, just time... and libraries do exist for doing a lot of this - would just need to be integrated into an sp plugin...

Thanks Mr Papa, I do totally understand on the image uploader, and I appreciate your response. It's good to know it's a possibility for the future as far as the media browser is concerned.
Sorry I didn't mean an image editor, I was referring to the ability to add an image from the "edit post" window, although an editor would be skippy 😉

we try! there is a ticket open for the media viewer... having the file uploader available when editing posts will be in 5.1 or earlier...
