This is my storage location http://screencast.com/t/i7jJmbirs

Also this is my current priority settings http://screencast.com/t/WD5hyO6Ef

I checked my cpanel and all the avatar files are on my server.

Could this be a wordpress profile setting or can I use SP alone to setup my avatar?

what do you see in the avatar profile panel??  you have gravatars as the priority, so that will be displayed if it exists…  and I think it will return a mystery man always…

so I would put uploaded avatars first if thats what you want to be the priority…

Is this what you are talking about?  http://screencast.com/t/YoeXAjYDEbZb  It gives the option to upload an avatar.

I set my priorities the way you told me too.

Ps. everything else is working great, I am just having trouble uploading an avatar.

On this panel, you may update your Avatar. Depending on Forum Admin settings, you may have multiple ways to select an Avatar.

Current Displayed Avatar

This forum searches and selects a member avatar in the following priority sequence until one is found:
  1. Uploaded Avatar
  2. From gravatar.com
  3. Forum Default Avatars
  4. Upload An Avatar

Files accepted: GIF, PNG, JPG and JPEG
    Maximum width displayed: 50 pixels
    Maximum filesize: 10240 bytes

So I click browse and I find the photo.png file 50X50 pix and I click open.

The page seems to refresh itself and nothing happens. No warning no error or anything pops-up.

is the size of the image file less than the maximum filesize specified?  its about 10k…

after you click the upload avatar button, you will get a status message just below it…  does it say success or error?  it will fade away…

under Profile Options my personal photo options are set:

max photos allowed 2

Max pix width 60

Max pix height 60

My .png image is only 50 pix

you are confusing avatars and photos again…  you are trying to upload an avatar…  its settings are on forum – profile – avatars…

and the update message when you save?

so either reduce it, or increase the max filesize for avatars on your forum – profiles – avatars admin panel…

keep in mind if you allow display of large filesize avatars it will slow down page loading on the topic view…  each user displays their avatar there…  my avatar here is only 1.6k – quite small…  10k should be plenty for an avatar…

Well i’ll make a smaller avatar then and see what happends. Sorry this is all just new to me and I was caught of guard when my site went down because I installed the wrong zip. I’m starting to get! lol

no worries. we are here to help.

If you missed my update to last post, my avatar here is only 1.6k.. you want them small or else the topic view can take longer to load because of a bunch of big avatars… 10k is actually quite large for an avatar…

and remember, its NOT the dimensions… 50×50 is fine… its the filesize… so resolution or # of colors in the image…

Ok my picture must have high resolution because I had to drop it down to 40×40 lol I didn’t even think about the file size!

But it worked!

So everything is working just fine now.

Thank GOD!!!

And thanks for your help. laugh

Hi guys,

I had the same problem so after I read this threat here I went back and check from the downloaded page because I knew that my plugin file was named as online1.

So found out that my computer saved the file as online1 because I already had a file with the name “online”.

Now after change the name of the file to online plugin is working as should ;-)

Thanks for all the support, this a grate business :-)

You guys rock ;-)
